Abstract The circular economy (CE) concept has recently entered the public discourse. A CE should contest reproduction of a so-called linear economy. However, it is largely promoted as normative top-down fix for business models and waste management. branch research calls critical revisions to support integration social aspects. related shortcoming lack definition change that can bring about. Two questions guide work presented in this article: (1) What be included socio-cultural institutional framing study CE? (2) could leverage an alternative We address first question by proposing practice-driven institutionalism relevant perspective, focusing on studying consumption practices — practical engagements logics. further apply framework empirical cases from sources city Norway, where production are highly embedded consumerism.
